Day 4 of our trip and today I persuaded Bob to climb another Welsh mountain in the Brecons.
It looked like a 6 mile walk with a climb of 650m and we’d already climbed Pen Y Fan (3miles and 800m)
and the local ‘Allt (meaning Hill in Welsh) (350m and a 5 mile walk)
So I thought this would be ok despite the forecast of heat!
Well 6 miles turned into almost 8 and the two pubs that I told Bob we would visit on the way back were both closed!!!

It was a fabulous walk with plenty shade along the way up the mountain, breath taking views of patchwork farmland on one side and Brecon mountains and valleys to the other. George struggled with the heat but we stole the sheeps shady spot under the cliff edge and he (and we) cooled down after large amounts of water.
It was quite a struggle going back down a fairly steep rocky decline with George’s lead strapped to me as he was keen to get to the sheep dotted enroute.
But what a way to end our 4 fabulous nights at Lakeside Caravan and Camping Site. A quiet site, not too big and unsurprisingly not particularly busy with loads of local walks, a lake for water sports, a superb cafe and pub onsite with entertainment.

We had spent out first night with my lovely friend Aileen in Clevedon, home of a famous Victorian pier, a Marine lake for salt water swimming and Poets Walk that takes you along the coastal path.
In turn Aileen then popped across the border and visited us in Brecon. We spent the day catching up and then I impressed her with Bobs cooking on the Compact Cadac Chef – our new favourite cooking appliance. More on that in another blog!
In the meantime heres a recipe to enjoy.

Leftover Pasta
100g cooked Pasta
Cooked New potatoes
50g fine green beans
1 tbsp pesto
1 small onion finely chopped
1 garlic clove minced
Handful of cashews
50g crumbled feta
Served with mixed greens
Fry onion, garlic and potatoes in oil until crispy, add green beans for another 5 mins. Add pasta and stir in the pesto. Top with the crumbled feta and toasted cashews. Yum!
Tomorrow we are off to Tenby – not sure if our fridge is working when we are stationary so wanted to use up as much fresh food as possible.
Made one of my favourite dishes that my mum taught me years ago and substituted Parmesan with feta and pine nuts with toasted cashews.
I quite liked this version!
Note – at the moment we don’t have wifi or electric hookup so Im attempting the blog via mobile data and on my phone. Getting the photos set up is the hardest part!
